King Kong Golden / Yellow Mammon Parrot Cichlid (Cichlasoma sp)
King Kong Golden / Yellow Mammon Parrot Cichlid — Cichlasoma sp.
Massive head. Solid gold presence.
The King Kong Golden Mammon Parrot Cichlid is built to dominate visually. This heavy-bodied hybrid strain features a thick frame, exaggerated forehead (kok), and powerful jaw structure combined with a rich golden-to-deep yellow base coloration. Unlike standard blood parrots, the King Kong line is bred for increased size, stronger body structure, and more pronounced head development — giving it a bold, “monster cichlid” presence.
The golden morph intensifies under proper lighting, often developing a molten yellow tone with subtle metallic sheen. As it matures, the nuchal hump becomes more defined, especially in dominant males, reinforcing its commanding look. Despite its size and structure, it remains more manageable than wild Central American bruisers when housed correctly.
Growing to 12–14+ inches, this is a substantial show fish suited for large aquariums with stable filtration and appropriate tank mates.
